Principles for the first year of system regulation

NHS Confederation - 

The health and care bill offers the legislative framework to accelerate integration and partnership working. However, if regulation and oversight arrangements are overly burdensome and not fit for purpose, there is a risk that leaders of integrated care systems will be inhibited in progressing towards integration, partnership working and driving the improvements in care the pandemic has shown are needed. This report sets out a set of principles that should drive the actions of regulators over the first year of system regulation and oversight.

Social care reform: independent report by Baroness Cavendish

Department of Health and Social Care - 

This internal review was commissioned by the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care in June 2020. The aim was to make recommendations for social care reform and integration with health in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic, which could fit alongside the funding reforms planned by the Department in the context of the NHS Long Term Plan. The government have since taken forward a number of the recommendations in the white paper, People at the heart of care and published the integration white paper, Joining up care for people, places and populations.

Provider Selection Regime: supplementary consultation on the detail of proposals for regulations

Department of Health and Social Care - 

The proposed Provider Selection Regime will be a new set of rules replacing the existing procurement rules for arranging health care services in England. The proposed rules will be introduced by regulations made under the Health and Care Bill. This consultation builds on the engagement and consultation activity which NHS England has undertaken over the past three years. It aims to build on the consensus achieved from NHS England’s consultation on proposals previously set out for the Provider Selection Regime, and does not repeat or reopen that consultation. This supplementary consultation seeks views from respondents to help develop the regulations for the Provider Selection Regime. This consultation closes at 11:45pm on 28 March 2022.
