This report seeks to calculate the costs of mental ill health on individuals, society and the economy. The analysis finds that the total cost of mental ill health in England in 2022 was £300 billion. Public satisfaction with the NHS and social care in 2023: results from the British Social Attitudes Survey

The King's Fund - 

The 2023 survey recorded the lowest levels of satisfaction since the survey began in 1983 – only 24% of the public are satisfied with the NHS, and only 13% are satisfied with social care. Despite low levels of public satisfaction, a large majority of the public still support the principles of the NHS. 48% of the public would support the government increasing taxes and spending more on the NHS.

Regulating anaesthesia associates and physician associates: consultation on our proposed rules, standards and guidance

General Medical Council (GMC) - 

The GMC is seeking views on their proposed approach to regulating anaesthesia associates (AAs) and physician associates (PAs), through inviting comments on their draft rules – and where appropriate, supporting standards and guidance. The GMC is also seeking comments on their draft principles that will inform the content of fitness to practise decision-making guidance that will apply to doctors as well as to AAs and PAs from December 2024. The consultation closes at 23:59 on 20 May 2024.
