Departments' oversight of arm's-length bodies: twenty-first report of session 2016-17

This report outlines the findings of an investigation into the lines of accountability between government departments and arm's-length bodies. The committee found many examples of effective oversight but argues that good practice should be more widely shared within and outside of department boundaries. The report recommends that the Cabinet Office should use its position at the centre of government to ensure departments improve the way they manage business through arm's-length bodies.
