This is the response to a Department of Health consultation which sought comments on proposals for three sets of regulations to be made under the amended Public Health (Control of Disease) Act 1984, taking forward the modernisation of health protection law. The regulations cover notification of hazards, safeguards for individuals and updated local authority powers. Subject to Parliament, it is planned that the regulations will come into force on 6 April 2010 (except certain provisions in the Notification Regulations which are planned to come into force on 1 October 2010).
