The Public Health England Malaria Reference Laboratory diagnosed 676 imported malaria infections in London residents in 2012, a rate of 8 per 100,000 population in 2012. As seen across the UK, malaria among London residents decreased in 2012 compared to 2011, continuing a decline in cases since 2001. This report describes the epidemiology of malaria in London since 2000 to 2012. It outlines the latest trends, identifies areas where there is a high burden of disease, at risk population groups, and opportunities for interventions and prevention of future cases.
