This report outlines results from a project designed to explore with
members of the public and professional stakeholders their understanding
of the concept of ‘public protection’ and of fitness to practise; their
interpretation of terms used in this debate; their views on the ongoing
discussion surrounding public protection and fitness to practise; the
information about individuals they believe would be relevant to the
regulator in determining fitness to practise, and whether there is any
variance in this dependent on the profession (e.g. public facing versus
non public facing professions).
