This report outlines the results of a project which began in
September 2009. It aimed to assess the strengths and weaknesses of using
administrative data for revalidation in specific clinical areas.
Results indicated that the usefullness of the data depended on the
clinical area, the condition and procedure that involved, and the
specific indicator used to evaluate performance. A checklist that can be
used for the evaluation of newly proposed indicators was therefore
proposed.
