London faces a number of health/work related issues with a greater percentage of people with health problems being workless in London than nationally. Employee ill health has costs to employers as well as to the individual and society. It has been estimated that an average London firm of 250 employees loses around £250,000 a year due to ill health. Evidence indicates that well designed employee welfare programmes can more than cover the costs of such a programme.
