The Department of Health asked the Office of Communications (Ofcom) to undertake this public consultation exercise on the introduction of a three digit number to support access to non-emergency health care in January 2009. Ofcom is responsible for allocating three digit numbers in the UK and ensuring this limited resource is put to best use. The consultation closes on 20 August 2009.
